Over the years, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology has identified and inspired young talent and infused in them the spirit to revolutionize the world. Avishkar, one of the largest technological symposiums of the country has kept up this tradition of innovation and breaking unprecedented frontiers.
This three day festival hosted this year from 23th to 25th September witnesses the conflux of over 6000 enthusiasts hailing from 550 colleges across the nation. It grants these young minds an unparagoned opportunity to showcase their talent and evince their ideas which may lay the groundwork for the next cutting edge technology.
Living up to the name, Avishkar '11 represents the apogee of science, engineering and path-breaking technology. From guest lectures and paper presentations on one hand to treasure hunts and gaming contests on the other, it plays host to a gamut of activities which push your capacity to ideate, drive your hunger to innovate and challenge your potential to create like never before. Its not just a fest, its a phenomenon!

33 years ago, a group of teenagers came together hoping to start something new. An informal set of events was planned and approximately 100 visitors were a part of this small-scale initiative. Therein lay the inception of one of the biggest college festivals in the country- Malhar.
Today, Malhar features a plethora of diverse events, multiple Social Causes and an entire day dedicated to Conclave. This mega event is organized by an army of 1200 students and is experienced by over 30,000 people from all over the country.
This year, St. Xavier’s College invites you to put on your night-vision goggles, unleash your mysterious side and prepare to be puzzled, for in another three months, all paths will lead to Malhar 2011: The Labyrinth.
THEME
Our theme this year is The Labyrinth, which in its simplest definition is a maze. Labyrinths, for centuries now, have puzzled mankind. Over hundreds of years, they have held differing significance to civilizations.
Prehistoric man considered a maze a trap for malevolent spirits. While in medieval times, labyrinths grew to be thought of as paths to God.
Today,they are looked upon as centres for meditation, introspection and spiritual evolution.
Malhar 2011 hopes to combine all that a labyrinth has signified and more, and offer you a chance to explore the unexplored, conquer the unconquered and emerge into the light. Featuring never-been-done-before events, The Labyrinth presents new challenges and novel ideas.
The Labyrinth offers you the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and think beyond what you already know. And, of course, The Labyrinth encourages you to surrender and get lost within it.

Scheduled on 6th-7th August, 2011, this initiative promises to bring out the best technical solutions through the NIT students, well ratified and moderated by an esteemed panel of dignitaries, well known in the field of interest this event focuses on. Also happens to be a curtain raiser of this edition of the annual technical festival of VNIT, Axis'11.
This event type may be considered as a techo-management initiative.
