Event: Ventura'12 : The International Business Plan Competition

Event Format
ROUND 1: ONLINE SUBMISSION OF EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
All teams will be required to submit an executive summary of their plans on or before 20th November 2011. The plans can be uploaded after registrations on the site or can be mailed to ventura12@ecell-nitt.org.
The top 5% of the plans automatically go into the mentoring round. The bottom 45% get eliminated while the remaining 50% undergo a ONE WEEK MENTORING, where the team will be put in touch with a mentor, and required to quickly improve the basics of their plans. The teams which get selected in this round will go into the next Mentoring Round.

ROUND 2: MENTORING PROCESS
The second round consists of an intense 50-60 days mentoring, with mentors assigned to each team based on their requirement and plan. The team is required to stay in touch with their mentor constantly. Based on the feedback from the mentors, and a further shortlisting by an eminent panel of judges, the teams again get shortlisted and go into final round of the competition.

ROUND 3: FINAL PRESENTATION
The final round of Ventura will take place on the NIT-Trichy campus, in 2012. It consists of a detailed presentation of the business idea to Venture Capitalists, and judges, who will review it in detail.

Details:
The word Backwaters no longer evokes images of serene lagoons and sleepy houseboats. What comes to mind instead is a throng of humanity battling it out to emerge supreme. Backwaters is the Annual B-School Meet of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK). Backwaters v2.10 was a roaring success with more than 3000 students from across 70 premier B-Schools of India participating in events spanning all management verticals. The star attractions included White Knight, Avatar, Labyrinth and Bizzathalon among other events.

In addition to the flagship events, the business simulation games, case studies, strategy events, etc. across the 6 verticals (Finance, Marketing, Systems, Strategy, Operations & Human Resources) gave an opportunity to students from the best B-schools to apply their classroom concepts to the real world. Young Guns in association with Blackberrys was broadcast by NDTV Profit as events under the marketing vertical came under national spotlight.

Backwaters has grown over the past years & now resounds as a familiar name across B-schools as well as the industry. This year Backwaters will throw down the gauntlet to the next-gen MBAs with newer and smarter events. The speaker series will see brilliant minds from India Inc. enlightening the IIMK fraternity with their insights on contemporary issues. Keeping up with our legacy we aim to make Backwaters '11 a class apart.

Zeitgeist-the spirit of time is not a mere cultural festival of IIT Ropar but is a spell that casts upon us an eternal veil of fun and frolic. Zeitgeist conjures out an ambience of thrill, a world of its own where the lights dance on the beats, the trees sway on the hymns – zeitgiest makes each breath you take unforgettable; its ineffable.

The festival is brimmed with podiums where anyone’s talent can reach the pedestal. We have the mesmerizing song competioins where the enchanting strands of melody engulf you. We have the dance competitions where the rappers; the hip hoppers and classic performers show their magnum opus.

And then there are the glib speakers and the cogent orators who loquaciously spread their words in debates and JAMs. But its not only about the emblazoned stages; even the streets of IIT Ropar come alive during Zeitgiest with street plays blatantly speaking and touching our hearts, bike riders pompously flaunting their skills and DJs thumping the grounds.

At last are the gaming hubs with hardcore gamers hitting the roads and slashing the trolls. And the night time is where everyone dances and sings with the guest bands of high profile. And don’t forget we haven’t forgotten the gourmets- you can enjoy the best of the best to your heart’s content in Zeitgiest.
